The scaleni are divided into three parts: in addition to the posterior scalenus, there is also the anteriorscalenus and the medialscalenus.
Origin: Proc. transversus of the 5th?7th cervical vertebra
Attachment: 2nd rib
Innervation: ventral branches of spinal nerves from C7 and C8
