Origin: Processus spinosus of the 3rd to 5th cervical vertebrae
Attachment: posterior tuberosity of the transverse processes (processus transversus) of the 1st to 3rd cervical vertebrae
Innervation: Rami posteriores C5-C8
Antagonists:
Movement: Lateral flexion if innervated on one side, otherwise reclination
