Attachment: Transverse processes of the vertebrae, some muscle prongs also on the processi accessorii
Antagonists:
Movement: Innervated on both sides: Extension of the spine or reclination of the head; innervated on one side: ipsilateral lateral flexion of the spine or elimination of contralateral lateral flexion.
