Definition of

immune-mediated special form of polyneuropathy, the etiology of which is not yet fully understood. However, as it responds to immunosuppressants, among other things, it is thought to be an autoimmune disease

Cause

1. Diabetes mellitus
2. Alcoholism

Diagnosis

1. Increased proteins in the cerebrospinal fluid
2. Nerve biopsy
3. specific immunoglobulin in the form with monoclonal gammopathy

Symptoms

1. Mostly symmetrical motor or sensory disorders, especially in the legs

Therapy

1. Corticosteroids
2. Cyclophosphamide
3. Plasmapheresis
