Definition of
(usually caused by a protrusion or prolapse (see explanations under disc hernia) radicular pain in the paravertebral lumbar spine area down to the knee region. Onset with chronic complaints: pain occurs with particular strain/movement and only lasts for a short time.

Symptoms
- Highlight Pain up to the knee region (pain that extends further indicates sciatica )
- Chronic: pain occurs with particular stress/movement and only lasts for a short time
- Acute: sudden pain triggered by cold or jerky movement with the patient adopting a relieving posture. The muscles over the affected joint are tense (as with lumbago).
