M. gluteus minimus

The gluteus minimus lies between the gluteus medius and ilium(ilium) and, as a synergist of the gluteus medius, is mainly the abductor of the hip joint. It stabilizes the pelvis against tilting in the frontal plane in the direction of adduction in the hip joint.

Origin: facies glutaea of the ilium
Attachment: greater trochanter of the femur
Innervation: Nervus gluteus superior from Plaxus sacralis from L4–L5
Antagonists:
Movement: Abduction, ventral part: endorotation and flexion in the hip joint, dorsal part: exorotation in the hip joint and extension in the hip joint
