M. longissimus
Part of the sacrospinal system, extends from the sacrum to the head. It is located between the iliocostalis and semispinalis muscles in 4 parts corresponding to the section of the spine: Longissimus capitis, Longissimus cervicis, Longissimus thoracis, Longissimus lumborum.

Innervation: Rami posteriores of the spinal nerves
Antagonists:
Movement: Innervated on both sides: Extension of the spine or reclination of the head; Unilaterally innervated: ipsilateral lateral flexion of the spine or elimination of a contralateral lateral flexion.
