Styloiditis (radii und ulnae)

Definition

Insertional tendinopathy with inflammatory-degenerative changes to the styloid process, to which the brachioradialis attaches, or to the ulnar styloid process, to which the ulnar collateral carpal ligament attaches.

1. Pain radiating proximally or distally
2. Reduced strength in the wrist area
3. Isolated tenderness

Therapy

1. Immobilization with orthosis
2. local anti-inflammatory drugs
3. Protection
4. Cryotherapy, ultrasound, iontophoresis
5. Instillation (instillation) of local anesthetics or glucocorticoids
