TOS Tendon Overuse Syndrome

Definition of

Disease of the tendon due to overuse, stages:

1. painful dysfunction
2. Tendovaginitis, peritendinitis, or bursitis
3. Degenerative change due to biomechanical or ischemic injury to the tendon fibers
4. Possibly partial or complete rupture

TOS is not necessarily inflammatory, often purely degenerative: adhesion and calcification.
