Omohyoid muscle in the context of the ventral neck
Muscle extending from the margo superior of the scapula, directly medial to the incisura scapulae to the lower edge of the hyoid bone. The inferior ventral venter has a fascial connection to the clavicle. It pulls upwards, briefly becomes a tendon behind the sternocleidomastoid and from there pulls to the hyoid bone as the superior venter.
Like all other infrahyal muscles (omohyoid, sternohyoid, sternothyroid and thyrohyoid muscles), it pulls the hyoid bone caudally and thus supports the flexion of the cervical spine.
