the shin muscle on the front of the lower leg that causes the foot to lift (dorsal flexion) and causes supination. The most important foot lifter, the muscle that often tires after long periods of walking and causes you to trip over your own feet.
Origin: Condylus lateralis of the tibia, interosseous membrane
Insertion: Plantar surface of the medial cuneiform bone, base of metatarsal bone I
Innervation: Nervus fibularis profundus from Nervus fibularis communis, Nervus ischiadicus and Plexus lumbosacralis from L4 und L5
Antagonists:
Movement: Dorsiflexion and supination in the ankle joint
Strengthening postures (): The tibialis anterior is strengthened when the forefoot is pressed forcefully onto the floor in: virasana, supta virasana, krouncasana
Stretching poses (): as one of the important foot lifts, it is stretched above all during maximum dorsiflexion, for example in virasana, supta virasana, baddha padasana, 5th hip opening, krouncasana, virasana, krouncasana,
