Part of the oblique abdominal musculature arranged in an approximately x-shape, which causes a curvature of the middle back, a rotation of the spine and can cause the upper body to bend sideways.
Origin: lig. inguinale, crista iliaca, SIAS, fascia thoracolumbalis, processus costales L1-L5
Attachment: Linea alba, cartilage of ribs 9-12
Innervation: ventral branches (Rami anteriores) of the spinal nerves Th8-Th12
